AI and Coaching

An internet search will show that there are plenty of options and platforms for those who would like to use AI as their training support.

I do not use nor do I intend to use AI to generate plans or specific sessions for my athletes. I am however, familiar with the use of AI for work, life and in general. During the course of updating this website in 2026 I did some browsing on the benefits and drawbacks of AI in respect of cycling and running performance. In short, I note the following:

·         Use of AI for personal performance/training can be cost effective, flexible and may also offer a community for support and discussion.

·         AI may not alert you to overreaching, overtraining or the impact of life’s stresses and challenges on your training plan.

·         A human coach may provide more objective, personal  analysis and feedback that i) takes account of how you feel and how you respond to training and that ii) raises awareness of your perceived exertion, strengths and areas needing improvement.

If you are considering using AI for your training or are already doing so and are looking for some additional support or discussion with a (human) coach, then do contact me. I am happy to provide either ad-hoc or regular consulting advice and reviews on an hourly fee rate.
